Chilton County High School dropped its season finale on the road at Elmore County High School 36-10 on Nov. 1. The Tigers’ Kelijah Lucas took in a touchdown and Jorge Salgado converted a field goal as the scorers for CCHS.
Following the game against Bibb County High School earlier this season, head coach Eddie Wall said he learned that his team would always fight no matter what. As the season wore on, he was proven right by the players as they continued to show up and fight regardless of the results. The fight showed up in the Elmore County game as well.
“Throughout the year, we just kept reaching and trying to do the right thing and it will eventually happen, and unfortunately it never did,” Wall said. “There was never an extended moment during the season where I felt like the kids were not fighting until the very end. In today’s day and age, it is tough to go through a season in your life of not being as successful as you want or seeing the rewards you want to see from the work you are putting in. But as they grow older they will understand that what they went through this year, and probably at another time in their life, that the good things are coming.”
In the game against Spain Park High School, Wall felt like the Tigers drew a line in the sand that despite the score and no matter who they were playing, they were going to play hard for each other and the school.
“I told the seniors ‘The 2024 Tigers team changed the trajectory of this program to a positive upswing now,’” Wall said.
Chilton County finishes the 2024 season at 2-8.
