Isabella High School’s Jedaiah Works is this week’s athlete of the week for Oct. 11-17 following his performance against Greene County High School on Oct. 11. Works’ performance helped the Mustangs stay alive in the Class 2A State Football Playoff race with a 52-32 win that keeps them in contention for one of the final two playoff spots in the region.

Works put together a 144-yard game on 20 carries and was able to reach the end zone four times in the game. His four touchdowns were the most this season in a game for Isabella, and helped add to the Mustangs’ highest scoring output this season as they scored a touchdown on each possession they had in the game.

Honorable mention: Pearce Yeargan, Maplesville High School

The other Chilton County player who accounted for four touchdowns in week seven was Maplesville High School quarterback Pearce Yeargan. Yeargan threw four touchdown passes while going 11-for-16 passing for 139 yards in Maplesville’s 57-10 win over Billingsley High School, a game that also saw the Maplesville offense score of each of their drives. The win kept the Red Devils perfect in Class 1A Region 4 play this season.

Honorable mention: Malachi Allgood, Thorsby High School

Thorsby High School’s main man in the middle, Malachi Allgood, had arguably his best game of 2024 against Dallas County High School on Oct. 11. Allgood posted 16 tackles with two coming for a loss, and he added a sack and a forced fumble to his tally as well, helping the Rebels take a step towards securing a spot in the state playoffs in their return to Class 3A football this season.
