Local foster care ministry Raleigh’s Place has announced the grand opening of its new transitional apartments is coming up on Oct. 1. The event will be held at 1010 Lay Dam Road, Clanton from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and showcase the new apartments that were built to support young men who have recently aged out of the foster care system. The apartments will “aim to provide a safe and supportive environment that fosters growth and independence,” a press release from the organization said.

“We are thrilled to expand our services with the addition of these transitional living apartments,” Mike King, Executive Director of Raleigh’s Place, said. “Our desire is to bring transformation to the young men who will call Raleigh’s Place home. They have already experienced and overcome so much now we want to see them thrive as adults. We invite the community to join us in celebrating this exciting new chapter.”

The apartments are designed to help bridge the gap for those who have recently aged out of foster care to full-time independence. With Raleigh’s Place offering stable housing, life skills training and access to employment opportunities, the organization hopes to empower the young men they interact with as they go through the transition to adulthood. The apartments are a part of Raleigh’s Place’s Workmanship Initiative Program that also emphasizes financial literacy, vocational training and personal development.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held as part of the event to open the doors to the new housing. Tours of the new apartments, an opportunity to learn more about the Workmanship Initiative Program and refreshments will all be a part of the festivities available for attendees.
