Maplesville High School was selected in the preseason top 10 poll of Class 1A by the Alabama Sports Writers Association on Aug. 7. The Red Devils were placed eighth in the poll following an 8-5 season last year that saw them advance to the third round of the AHSAA Class 1A State Football Playoffs where they fell to the No. 1 ranked team in the preseason poll Elba High School.

Maplesville was given 56 points in the grading system by the ASWA, just two points behind Georgiana High School ranked No. 7 with 58 points. No other Chilton County area high school team was ranked, or received votes, in the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s preseason polls for the 2024 season.
