In Truth Triumphs Landmark Sermons by John MacArthur, he states, “The Russian grand chess master by the name of Kasparov made an interesting statement. He said, “The point of modern propaganda isn’t only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, [so as] to annihilate truth.” This culture is making critical thinking an exhausting battle. They just continually hit us with a barrage of lies and deception, with the notion that they can wear out our will to fight; and it works.”

It all comes back to the Word of God. Is it authoritative? Is it sufficient? Is it immutable? If so, then we are encouraged by the truth, corrected by the truth, and called to stand firm in the truth.

I think of Christian college students bombarded with ideologies and deception. The authority of Scripture is attacked. Some are equipped with the truth but it is still not the college experience they expected. For others, they are ill-equipped. They were not trained in the Word of God and now those emotional experiences and shallow devotions are insufficient.

Many young children today are given the burden of being told that they are missionaries in their school. I agree with Voddie Baucham when he says, “Our kids are not the missionaries. They’re the mission field.”  A friend recently noted, “You only have so much time with them for those conversations; have them now because they may not let you have them later.”

Many parents feel ill-equipped to teach their children and rather than diligently seeking a church that exposits God’s Word and studying Scripture themselves, they look for a church their children will like that is fun, relying on others to teach them. These often find assurance in that “at least they are in church” or if “they had an experience”.

Sadly, many young children are not hearing God’s Word opened and exposited but are hearing man-centered devotions. Others are hyped up to have subjective experiences that then often lead to sending them out as missionaries in their schools. Why? Because they had an experience? They could have the same experience at a concert. How do we know they are born again? What do they know about God’s Word? They are the mission field!

Many today receive a steady diet of weak, feminized, man-centered, felt-needs, motivational doctrine complete with music and an atmosphere that is man-centered creating an emotional experience rather than true worship.

Many in the visible church today excite themselves with going toe to toe with “territorial demons” and work themselves into a frenzy screaming at Satan. Spiritual Warfare is not screaming at Satan or prayer walks to cast out territorial spirits. We are in a battle for truth! And this is where so much of the visible church has given up ground.

Truth Triumphs!
