Thorsby High School’s Aiden Seeley is The Clanton Advertiser’s baseball player of the year for the 2024 season. Seeley was the most reliable arm throughout the season for Drew Wood’s Rebels, and his presence on both the mound and in the lineup boosted Thorsby to a 21-11 final record.

It was a tale of two seasons for the Rebels that was split apart by the Chilton County Baseball Tournament. Before the tournament, Seeley and the Rebels were 3-6 and struggling to find their footing early in the season. Thorsby picked up wins against Verbena and Maplesville High Schools in the tournament, but fell to Chilton County High School in the final on March 9.

Then, Seeley and the Rebels both hit their strides and would not lose again for nearly a month. Following the county baseball tournament, Thorsby finished the season with an 18-5 record that included separate win streaks of nine and six games. While others for Thorsby helped build their late season form, it seemed like Seeley found himself in the middle of it every game. His 1.83 earned run average was the lowest amongst Chilton County players with the number of innings he pitched, and he struck out 78 batters.

Seeley was no slouch at the plate with an average of .404 with an on-base percentage plus slugging percentage of 1.123. He pelted 38 base hits with one home run and 33 runs driven in.

 

Honorable mention: Bradlee Padgett, Maplesville High School

One of Maplesville High School’s Class 1A All-State Honorable Mention players, Bradlee Padgett, let it all fly in his last season hurling for the Red Devils. The senior threw 42 and two-third innings in 2024 and compiled a 2.95 ERA with 42 strikeouts, and was Maplesville’s best arm throughout this season, arguably the last few years.

Padgett’s dual threat ability at the plate was noticeable in 2024 hitting over .400 with a .446 batting average. His OPS reached 1.154 with a .600 OBP and .554 SLG, both among the tops amongst Chilton County players. He knocked 29 base hits with four doubles, one home run, 18 runs batted in and came around to score 30 runs for Maplesville.
