MONTGOMERY POST — A single-vehicle crash involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) occurred at approximately 4:17 p.m. Monday, June 10, and has claimed the life of a Jemison man. Shawn A. Smith, 19, was fatally injured when the 2019 Honda Pioneer ATV he was operating left the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned. Smith was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene. A 16-year-old juvenile, who was a passenger on the ATV, was injured and transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment.

The crash occurred on Chilton County 135 near Chilton County 1038, approximately two miles north of Jemison, in Chilton County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
