Union Grove Baptist Church will host a free clothes giveaway on April 27 from 9:00 a.m.-noon. Clothes sizes will range from newborn to adult. Families will be able to sort through clothes to update their wardrobes for spring.

“Last fall we hosted a clothes giveaway for fall and winter clothes,” said Connie Wren. “This giveaway will be focused on spring. The price of everything is going up right now, and for many families it is not in the budget to buy clothes.”

Families will be able to shop for items they need without restriction. Church members will be on hand for assistance and are expecting the community to take what they need, as well as be upright and give others the opportunity to shop for items.

Union Grove also keeps a year-round closet for anyone in need.

In addition to the clothes giveaway, the church will also host a Fish Fry on April 27 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The fish fry is being hosted by “Caring Hearts” ministry within Union Grove.  Proceeds from the fry will help purchase materials for their blanket ministry.

“Our Caring Hearts blanket ministry makes soft blankets for people who are suffering,” said Wren. “There are many people who are suffering, that have cancer or are children. The women making the blankets pray over them, and then give the blanket to the recipient so the person knows that they are not alone and have been prayed for. It is encouraging.”

To-go fish fry plates will include locally-caught fried fish filets, coleslaw, fries and a dessert.  Purchasers will also have the option of dining-in, which will include tea.

Handcrafted items such as Bible bags, hot pads and crafts will also be available for purchase.
