Dre’Von Lee is this week’s athlete of the week after his performance against Vincent High School on Oct. 20. The Mustang wide receiver and defensive back had a massive game, especially in the second half, to help Isabella overcome a halftime deficit to win 35-28.

Lee caught eight passes for 73 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown that put Isabella on top by two touchdowns, and would prove to be the game winner.

On defense, Lee was everywhere in the second half pulling down two interceptions including the last one with a few seconds on the clock to end the final Vincent drive and give Isabella a signature AHSAA Class 2A Region 4 win.

Lee was injured earlier in the year and was forced to miss a few games. Now, Lee is getting back to 100% and making a massive impact for the Mustangs late-season push towards the state playoffs.

“He would have been doing this all year long, but he has not been healthy,” Isabella head coach Tate Leonard said. “He is finally getting back to the old Dre’Von … He definitely stepped up, and I felt like all of our seniors stepped up big time. It is good to have him closer to being (fully) healthy.”

Lee piled up 15 tackles to lead the defense as well.

Honorable mention: Malachi Allgood, Thorsby High School

In another second-half comeback, Thorsby linebacker Malachi Allgood offered a helping hand to help the Rebels overcome Ranburne High School on the road on Oct. 20.

Allgood led the Rebels’ defense in tackles with 14 to help aid in a second-half comeback on the road after being down 12-0 at halftime.

Allgood added a season-high two and a half sacks to his totals in the game as well.
