Isabella, Billingsley host area volleyball tournaments

The AHSAA area volleyball tournaments begin Oct. 18, and some local teams are hosting their respective tournament while others will have to go on the road to secure a spot in the regional tournaments.
Isabella and Billingsley high schools secured home-court advantage in the regular season by finishing atop of their regions. The Mustangs tournament begins on Oct. 18 while the Bears start on Oct. 19. Maplesville and Verbena high schools join Billingsley competing for the AHSAA Class 1A Area 7 title on Oct. 19, and Thorsby will be playing in the AHSAA Class 2A Area 8 tournament on Oct. 18.
Chilton County High School will travel to Calera High School on Oct. 18 for the AHSAA Class 6A Area 5 tournament. Jemison High School joins the Tigers on the road going to Sylacauga High School for the AHSAA Class 5A Area 8 tournament.
All area tournaments are one-day tournaments.
October 18
AHSAA Class 2A Area 8 Tournament at Isabella High School
Semifinals: Isabella High School vs. Game 1 winner (B.B. Comer High School vs. Central of Coosa County High School) at 2:30 p.m.
Semifinals: Thorsby High School vs. Fayetteville High School at 4 p.m.
Championship game: 5:30 p.m.
AHSAA Class 6A Area 5 Tournament at Calera High School
Semifinals: Chilton County High School vs. Benjamin Russell High School at 4:30 p.m.
Championship game: vs. Calera High School at 6 p.m.
October 19
AHSAA Class 1A Area 7 at Billingsley High School
First round: Maplesville High School vs. Autaugaville High School at 10 a.m.
Semifinals: Verbena High School vs. Notasulga High School at 11:30 a.m.
Semifinals: Billingsley High School vs. Game 1 winner at 1 p.m.
Championship game: at 2:30 p.m.
AHSAA Class 5A Area 8 at Sylacauga High School
Semifinals: Jemison High School vs. Shelby County High School at 5:30 p.m.
Championship game: at 7 p.m.
