Clanton’s youth heading to state softball tournaments

Clanton will have four teams carrying the Chilton County flag at the 2023 All-American Youth Sports Alabama State Softball Tournaments from June 21-24. One 6U, two 8U and one 10U teams of Clanton youth all-star softball players will travel to three different cities in their attempt to bring home a state title.
The 6U Clanton All-Stars travel to Wetumpka and the Wetumpka Sports Complex to compete in the gold bracket of the state tournament. Led by coaches CJ Robinson, Craig Headley, Brooke Sullivan, Brannon Johnson and Brianna Headley, the team ran through the month of June with an unblemished 12-0 record. They captured tournament wins in the gold bracket in both South Central Pre-Area tournaments and the South Central Area Tournament. They enter the tournament as the top ranked 6U youth softball team in the state of Alabama and begin play on June 22 at 9 a.m. against the Athens All-Stars, and at 1:30 p.m. against the West Mobile All-Stars.
The 8U Clanton Blue All-Stars travel to Prattville and Mac Gray Park to compete in the gold bracket of the tournament. The team is led by coaches Daina Grimes, William Bouchard, Jessica Sneed and Sabrina Sneed, and they begin their tournament on June 22. Clanton Blue will take on Blount Co. 2 All-Stars at 9 a.m. and the Alexandria All-Stars at noon.
Clanton will have another 8U team competing in Prattville in the silver bracket in the 8U Clanton White All-Stars. Clanton White, led by coach Bubba Ash, is coming into the state tournament with a South Central Pre-Area 2 Tournament win. Clanton White’s tournament begins on June 22 taking on the Demopolis All-Stars at 9 a.m. and the Decatur All-Stars at noon.
The 10U Clanton All-Stars will play their state tournament in Alexander City at the Charles E. Bailey Sportsplex. They are coming off of two second-place finishes and one first-place finish in their three area tournaments. The team is led by coaches Derrick Bone Brian Lewis, David Ratliff, Greg Owens, Lisa Owens, Brett Baker and Chase Chapman. Their journey begins in the silver bracket on June 22 at 1:30 p.m. taking on Limestone Co. Blue All-Stars, followed by a 3 p.m. matchup with the Wal-Win All-Stars.
All four teams will represent Clanton and Chilton County at the opening ceremonies on June 21 to get the tournaments underway.
