This week was National Library Week and the Chilton-Clanton Public Library participated by having Clanton Mayor Jeff Mims and Chilton County Commissioner Joe Headley as guests of honor to show their partnership with the library.
“We are thankful for our representatives that advocate for our library and community,” Jennifer Jones of the Chilton-Clanton Public Library said.
National Library Week celebrates how libraries play a vital role in the community by offering a variety of resources such as internet access, early child development, reading materials for all ages, and they preserve cultural heritage. Libraries also promote civic engagement, and they promote a free and open environment for ideas to inspire lifelong learning. Libraries are one of the few places that the public can enjoy without spending money and they create a safe place for the public.
