Dog lovers and those who enjoy walking are being encouraged to come out and help the dogs at the Chilton County Humane Society through the Dogs in Motion Walking Event.

Organizer Dawn Marie Smith said she was looking for a way to give back and wanted to help the dogs at the shelter get some exercise away from the shelter.

“I donate occasionally and so I am there, and I see the dogs and it breaks my heart,” Smith said.

The event will be held at the Chilton County Humane Society, 139 Shade Tree Drive in Clanton, at 10 a.m. on Feb. 3 and Feb. 17.

A route to walk the dogs will be established.

Smith hopes to have enough volunteers to schedule different groups 15 minutes apart. She said she is also working to get an established group of people who enjoy walking involved in the event.

Donations of food to the shelter are also being accepted.
