Employers looking to hire and Chilton County residents looking for a job will have a new opportunity to connect at the Chilton County Job and Resource Fair on Jan. 24.

The event is being hosted by the Alabaster and Clanton Career Center at the Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center, 1850 Lay Dam Road, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Tara Seaborn of the Alabaster Career Center said the event is open to any employer that is hiring.

The Alabaster Career Center hosts a job fair on an annual basis in Shelby County, but Seaborn said this is the first time they have brought the event to Chilton County.

“We know a lot of employers in Chilton County have current needs they can’t fill, and we want to help connect the job seeker and employer together,” Seaborn said.

Companies that have already registered to participate are in food service, manufacturing, law enforcement and health care. Registration is free for businesses. Those wanting to attend should contact Seaborn at 205-663-2542 to register.

It is also free for job seekers to attend.

“We are not requiring any kind of registration for the public,” Seaborn said.

She said job seekers are encouraged to bring a resume and dress professionally. On-the-spot interviews are a possibility.

In addition to adults, Seaborn said the event is also open to high school seniors.

Seaborn said the career center is excited to be able to offer this opportunity for businesses and job seekers.

The plan is to make the career fair an annual event.
