Don Michael (Mickey) Davis
July 12, 1937- August 11,2022
Lieutenant Colonel Don Michael (Mickey) Davis, Sr, age 85, died in Lawton, Oklahoma, on Thursday, August 11, 2022, with his children by his side. Mickey grew up in Chilton County Alabama and graduated from Verbena High School in 1955, where he played football and in his senior year made the all state team. He graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in 1959 with a degree in Forestry. He was commissioned in the United States Army upon graduation and retired in 1981. After retirement he worked for the Oklahoma Works American Job Center until 1999. He had a passion for fishing while in the Army, but especially after retirement in Oklahoma.
He is survived by his children: Pam Cox, and Michael Davis (Beth); Grandson, Wayne Cox (Lynsey); great grandchildren, Kynley Kaye and Creed Cox. Sisters: June Grant, Betsy Spivey, Tinker Harris (Jimmy); Brothers: Richard (Gwen), Jon (Crystal), Chris (Myra), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oline, his parents, Orbin and Lillian Davis and brother-in-law, Marion Grant.
A family memorial gathering was held in Alabama.
