J.W. “Dub” Short, 90, of Alabaster passed away Sept. 2, 2022 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.
He was born January 9, 1932 in Chilton County, son of the late Johnny William Short and Lela Weldon Short.
He was a diesel mechanic with International Harvester and Alabama Power.
Surviving are his wife, Glenda M. Short; daughter, Rhonda Johnson; son, Gary (Belinda) Short; step-daughter, Michele (Patrick) Schiffman, step-son, Michael (Rebekah) Pegusky; nine grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; sisters, Delene Carroll and Sally Davis; Brother, Melton (Linda) Short and a host of other family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny William Short; mother, Lela Short; wife, Geraldine Short; daughter, Sandra Echols; grandson, Derric Echols; sisters, Jewel Robinson, Jeanette Smitherman and Gertrude Hayes; brother, Howard Short; son-in-law, Buddy Echols and son-in-law, Eddie Johnson.
Friends were received Tuesday, Sept 6, 2022 from 1-2 p.m. at Community Baptist Church, 8254 Highway 17, Maylene, AL 35114.
Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Community Baptist Church, 8254 Highway 17, Maylene, AL 35114 with Pastor Paul Armstrong officiating.
Interment followed in Chilton Memorial Gardens, Clanton, Alabama.
