Prior to his commissioning, CJ applied for and was accepted into the Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) program in the fall of 2021. Officer Candidate School prepares young men and women to become Naval Officers.
Upon his graduation from Birmingham Southern College with a degree in Physics, CJ was assigned to Newport Naval Station in Newport, Rhode Island, for Navy Officer Candidate School (OCS). While attending OCS, CJ received 13 weeks of intensive training and preparation to become commissioned. OCS prepares candidates morally, physically and mentally through intense physical training, militarization, and academic classes.
CJ will be assigned to Nuclear Power School in Goose Creek, South Carolina. There he will receive training for shipboard nuclear power plant operation and maintenance of surface ships and submarines in the U.S. Navy.
