Board of Education hires 17 teachers

The Chilton County Board of Education has hired 17 teachers for the coming year with about a month left before the first day.
The new employees were approved during a special called meeting on July 7.
This included two teachers for Verbena High School, a special education teacher for Chilton County High School, three teachers for Jemison High School, two teachers for Maplesville High School, a pre-K teacher for Clanton Elementary School, a teacher for Jemison Elementary School, a new cosmetology teacher for LeCroy Career Technical Center to replace Tracey Minor who retired, a teacher at Jemison Intermediate School, two teachers for Chilton County High School , a teacher for Clanton Middle School and two teachers at Clanton Intermediate School.
Several Child Nutrition Program employees were hired as well.
The board also accepted the resignation of several teachers during the meeting, including Clint Pitchford at Verbena, Lisa Ledbetter at Clanton Intermediate, David Sheffield at Clanton Middle, Amy Trentman at Clanton Intermediate, Emily Mims at Clanton Elementary, Anita Matthews at Isabella and Joanne Fondren at Jemison Elementary.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board will be July 19 at 6 p.m.
