Central Alabama Wellness is helping Chilton County families get prepared for the upcoming school year with a fun day at the Be Well Chilton event on July 30 at Chilton County High School.
The event will focus on the prevention of alcohol and substance abuse as well as maintaining a healthy mental space. The event will start at 10 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m.
Live music, food trucks and inflatables will be a part of the event. Central Alabama Wellness will provide games they have such as cornhole and table tennis. They will also provide free popcorn throughout the event.
Central Alabama Wellness will have a back-to-school backpack giveaway for children to get ready for the upcoming school year.
“It is really good for the families to come out and enjoy … It is going to be a super fun day,” Aladie Aaron, public relations coordinator at Central Alabama Wellness, said. “We just want everyone to come out and have some fun.”
Community resource vendors and nonprofit partners of Central Alabama Wellness will be on site to pass out information and be an outlet for people who may need their services.
“Anything to do (with mental health), we will have our resources there from different divisions if anyone is in need of those top services,” Aaron said.
Aaron said that Central Alabama Wellness is planning to meet with schools across Chilton County to see how they can assist with starting an awareness program. The program will be for not only students, but for parents to recognize the signs of ADHD, anxiety, depression or any other mental health concerns.
“The last two years, the mental health field has really blossomed into how to figure out how to help students,” Aaron said. “I think it is really important for us to get out into the schools and talk with not only the students, but the parents about how to understand that a little better.”
