From Chilton-Clanton Public Library
Covid-19 may have temporarily closed programs and events, but the Chilton-Clanton Public Library is back and stronger than ever!
This June the library kicked off its annual Summer Reading Program for the community. So far, the programs included rock painting and a magic show with Larry Darnell. Next to come is a comedian/ ventriloquist by the name of Gene
Cordova and a pizza party to end the final ceremonies on June 28. Prizes will be given on this day for the most books checked out for each age group (Preschool-kindergarten, First-Second, Third-Fourth, Fifth-Sixth grade). Over 200 children have attended the libraries programs this month and signed up for the book reading challenge with 119 free library cards issued for the kids.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! Come and connect with us at Story Time for a morning of fun activities. This program includes a story, songs, crafts and free play for ages 0-5. We meet in the Mayor Jackson Conference Room on Tuesdays and Wednesday’s from 10-11 a.m.
Everything Is Awesome in July, and we think our patrons are awesome too! Join us on Thursdays in July for a Lego Block Party and Board Games from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Mayor Jackson Conference Room. Become a Master Builder and Board Game Champion with your friends and family. All ages are welcome!
Or perhaps you fancy arts and crafts? If so, come showcase your talents or discover your creative side in our arts and crafts workshop starting Aug. 9 at 3:30 p.m. for ages 5-12 years old. This program will continue every second Tuesday of the month.
Also, be sure to visit your friends from the Chilton Clanton Public Library and Friends of the Library at this year’s Peach Jam Jubilee on June 25.
We will have a booth with free giveaways for all ages. There will also be a drawing for a doll house and a $100 Walmart gift card. We hope to see you there!
We believe a library is like a community center where people can come together, share ideas, enroll in classes, unwind and understand the events in their town, state, country, and, of course, read books. When we receive donations, it helps us give the gift of knowledge to our patrons and community further enriching the lives of others. Therefore, the Chilton Clanton Public Library would like to give a special thank you to United Way for their generous donation of two iPads for our library. The library appreciates your investment into our beloved community. The iPads are available for in house check out with a parent’s approval for ages 3-13. Please visit our circulation desk for more information. From all of us at the library we hope to see you enjoy the many services and programs we offer for our patrons.
