Walter Edgar “Butch” Deneke, 74, of Clanton passed away May 13, 2022 in Birmingham.

He was born June 1, 1947 in Birmingham, son of the late Walter Deneke and the late Betty Rotton Sazera.

He was a devoted husband of 54 years, loving father of three children and doting grandfather of eight grandchildren. Butch was a pharmacist for over 50 years and owner of Wright Drug Store in Clanton, an avid outdoorsman’s and Auburn Tigers fan.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Andrea Deneke; daughter, Heather Deneke (David Joe) Gillihan; son, Jeffrey Heath (Tara Mims) Deneke; son, Hunter Wade (Jessica Traywick) Deneke; 8 Grandchildren; Sister, Mary Hughes; Brother, Anthony Sazera.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Edgar Deneke, Sr., mother, Betty Rotton Sazera and sister, Jackie Stancil.

Friends were received Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home.

Services were held Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 11 am. at Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Matt DeBord officiating.

Private Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
