A man with felony warrants is in Clanton Police custody after a car chase on Interstate 65.
Jermarious Franklin refused to stop for police when an officer attempted to a traffic stop at Exit 205. Instead, Franklin got on the interstate, and police pursued him to Exit 200.
“He had outstanding felony warrants, and they knew who he was,” CPD Chief Erick Smitherman said.
Franklin had a nationwide warrant stemming from a probation violation in Jefferson County. He also had a warrant in Chilton County for giving false information to law enforcement.
The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office came to assist in the pursuit.
Spikes were laid out, and Franklin swerved and tried to hit a deputy, but went through the guardrail instead. Franklin landed in a ditch. He ran into the woods. Officer and K9 units pursued, and he was taken into custody.
“No serious injuries occurred during the incident,” according to information from CPD.
