Relay For Life returns to Peach Park

The Relay For Life of Chilton County event will be held at Peach Park again this year as the community remembers and honors those who have fought against cancer.
“We are so excited to have our Relay event again,” committee member Sunny Mays said. “The Relay committee appreciates all of the support.” She thanked Peach Park for allowing the group to hold the event there again this year.
Survivors who registered will enjoy a meal sponsored by Exit Royal Realty before the festivities begin. Opening ceremonies for the event will begin at 6 p.m. on the top of the hill near the play-ground and fountain. Local entertainment is returning this year with Fierce Cheer, Hype Cheer and Just Twirl It performing. New for this year is a Pie a Politician event, each politician raised money hoping to get the most and avoid getting a pie in the face. Luminarias will be for sale at the event and available for decorating. Cost is $2 each or 3 for $5. Around 8 p.m. those in attendance will go to the Peach Park garden path for the luminaria service and remembrance walk.

If it is raining at 4 p.m., the Re-lay will be moved to the YMCA of Chilton County on Ollie Avenue. However, the survivor dinner will still be at Peach Park. The annual event raises funds for the American Cancer Society as it continues its mission of serving those who are fighting cancer, promoting healthy lifestyles and helping fund research to one day find a cure.
