The Thorsby Town Council announced the new parade route that will be enforced for future parades.

Instead of starting at the storage facility on Montgomery Avenue like past community parades, the parade will start at the Thorsby High School football field and work its way past the high school crossing over the railroad tracks.

From there, the parade will turn right towards Richard Wood Park and turn left onto Franklin Street before heading back towards the football field.

The football field gives the parade procession more room for parking and eliminates the safety concerns of having people and children around all of the floats.

In other Thorsby news, the Strawberry Festival is scheduled for April 9 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Richard Wood Park.
