A new opportunity for visual artists is coming to Chilton County.
The Chilton County Arts Council is calling all artists to submit two pieces of art to The People’s Gallery on 5th.
Participation is free, and artists can put a price on their piece if they would like to sell it.
“We are just absolutely thrilled at the prospect of bringing in some talented local artists and displaying their work, maybe some people that haven’t done anything with us in the past that would like to submit some artwork,” organizer Russell Lawlis said. “We are just all so excited about that, and really just in general broadening the scope of the arts council and the different styles of art that we display.”
A variety of art mediums are being accepted for this event, including painting, drawing, photography, woodworking, stained glass, sculpture, pottery, fiber/textile art, collages, encaustic, printmaking, etc.
For a submission form, artists should email a photo of their original artwork to Lawlis at ccacpeoplesgallery@gmail.com. Submissions will be accepted until April 15.
Artists will be notified via email by April 18 if their work has been accepted to the gallery.
An opening reception for the gallery will be held on May 6 at 6 p.m.
The hope is that the gallery opportunity will help the group connect with new artists who may not have participated in a previous Arts Council event.
The gallery will be on display at the Arts Council office, 500 5th Ave. N in Clanton from May 6 to July 4.
