Chilton Christian Academy hosted the Alabama Christian Athletic Association’s All-Star Games on March 5 to showcase the best boys and girls players across Alabama in the league.
Between 60 and 70 of the best boys and girls basketball players participated in both a varsity girls and boys game.
“We wanted those students and athletes to participate in an end of season game to appreciate their achievement from the regular season,” CCA coach Shanon Hamilton said. “I think it went well.”
CCA had two players represented on its home court with junior guard Donavon Norcross and eighth grade guard Cayman Hamilton.
Hamilton posted nine points, and Norcross put in a bucket to have three points in the game.
It was a special time for Shanon Hamilton getting to see not only his two best players from the 2021-2022 season, but getting to enjoy seeing his son participate in a game to showcase his stellar season.
“Both played very well,” Shanon Hamilton said. “It was a time for the players to connection and get to know each other, as well as a chance to see some other talent from around the state they may not have played this season.”
Locations for the event rotate every year, but CCA’s central location in the state make it a perfect school geographically to host the game. The Patriots hope to host more ACAA events in the future.
The mix of different players on the court on March 5 was one of the most unique aspects of the game. Some players were participating in their last basketball game and completing their high school career, while other players on the court will sign division one scholarships one day to play in college.
The ACAA and CCA was able to bring all of that talent under one roof.
“The diversity of talent that was on the floor was evident,” Hamilton said. “It just shows that even in an association outside the AHSAAA that there is a lot of talent across the state.”
Both Norcross and Cayman Hamilton will return for the Patriots for the 2022-2023 season.
