The Chilton County Board of Education has approved a one-time payment of $500 for full-time employees, who were active status with the school system as of Oct. 2, 2021.
Superintendent Jason Griffin recommended the payment at the Jan. 18 meeting of the board.
“All of our employees have gone above and beyond during this ongoing health crisis and the board and myself truly appreciate their efforts for our students,” Griffin said. “This is a well-deserved token of our appreciation.”
Qualifying employees will receive the payment on the Feb. 28 check.
According to Griffin, “Substitute employees, part-time employees and Chilton County Board of Education employees who retired between Oct. 1, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2021, will not receive this supplement, as well as the Superintendent.”
The board also approved three new hires during the meeting. This included two teachers at Clanton Elementary School and a teacher assistant at Chilton County High School.
Three resignations were accepted including Clanton Elementary teacher Bailey Evans, Clanton Intermediate paraprofessional Taylor Hawkins and Thorsby High Teams science teacher Denise Eiland.
Six substitutes were also approved for various positions.
