The Maplesville Town Council has until Jan. 20 to appoint someone to the District 4 vacancy.
Councilman Richard Davis, who had served for District 4, died on Nov. 21.
Town Clerk Dawn Smitherman said the town had three people who had expressed interest in the position, but the council had not made any decisions yet.
If the council does not appoint someone by Jan. 20, then Gov. Kay Ivey would make the appointment.
The council has rescheduled its January meeting to Jan. 13 at 6 p.m.
