Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

By ZACHARY SEIFTER/ Staff Writer

I will be honest, I am no expert when it comes to the game of volleyball.

It is definitely an enjoyable sport, and I like watching it on occasion, but if you are looking for someone that knows every rule and has a deep knowledge of the game, I am not your guy.

Up until this fall, I had never covered a volleyball game in my life. That changed in recent weeks though, and I am glad it did.

After covering some regular season matches, the county tournament and some area tournaments, I made my way out to Montgomery this week to cover the South Regional Volleyball Tournament. It blew me away.

The stands were packed with fans, all screaming and jumping and cheering after nearly every play. It was a sight to behold.

The teams that were there were no less rowdy. There was a different level of passion, excitement and competitiveness than I had previously seen in other matches.

It was an exciting thing to be a part of, and even though the schools from Chilton County that were there fell short, it was fun getting to see them compete at that high of a level.

I hope that in a year I will get to go back out there and see them again. Maybe I’ll get to go to my first state tournament as well.
