Hope’s Chest Boutiques & Gifts in Clanton is the 2021 recipient of the Silver Retailer of the Year award. Hope’s Chest earned the award in the Annual Sales Less Than $1 Million category.

The award was presented to Hope’s Chest owner Adena Green by the Alabama Retail Association on Sept. 27.

Only 11 retail businesses in the state earned the award.

“I was shocked and honored to be nominated by the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce for this award,” Green said.

Hope’s Chest started in Clanton just five years ago when Green began operations in a small room in a hair salon.

The business has grown substantially since then, not only in its number of customers, but in its available inventory. The incredible customer service there has also played a significant role in its growth.

“Hope’s Chest has set a high standard for other businesses to follow in customer service, community involvement and support she (Green) offers to fellow business owners,” Glenda Popwell said in a letter of recommendation to the Alabama Retail Association.

Customer service is one of many core values held at Hope’s Chest. Green is also devoted to helping her community, a value that shined during the pandemic when she supplied toilet paper, paper towels and hand sanitizer to members of the community.

“I have always loved helping others, and Hope’s Chest has given me the platform to do that on a larger scale,” Green said in a press release. “I am so thankful for this community that supports my business and me. I hope to be able to continue giving back to them to show my appreciation.”
