Chilton County Administrator Sylvia Singleton was recognized with the Outstanding Achievement Award for county administrators during a Chilton County Commission meeting on Sept. 14.

Singleton was the only administrator in the state to receive the award, presented by the Association of County Commissioners of Alabama.

During the meeting, Singleton and Assistant Administrator Makesha Cleckley were also both presented with plaques from the Alabama Local Government Institute and Association of County Commissioners of Alabama.

These plaques were to recognize that both Singleton and Cleckley finished the mandatory education requirements in county administration.

These awards were presented by Chilton County Commissioner Jimmie Hardee.

“These ladies have to go through classes for administration, and they put a lot of time and schooling and effort to keep educated,” Hardee said. “The laws change daily, from the ethics laws to the financial laws, so, they put a lot of time in.”

Both were given standing ovations by the other members of the commission.
