Athlete of the week: Childers shines in win over Jemison

Rashard Childers is this week’s athlete of the week. The Chilton County High School running back had a huge game on Aug. 26 in the Tigers’ win over Jemison High School.
Childers ran the ball 16 times for 116 yards, good enough for an outstanding 7.25 yards per rush. He also tacked on two rushing touchdowns in the 40-7 victory.
Honorable mention: Brady Harrison, Maplesville High School
Harrison played an excellent game in the Red Devils’ huge rivalry win over Isabella High School.
The senior running back was asked to carry the load for the Maplesville offense, rushing the ball 26 times in the game. He picked up 123 yards off those rushes, also finding the end zone twice in the 28-21 win for the Red Devils.
