The Chilton Auburn Club will be hosting its first ever Poker Run event at Higgins Ferry Park on July 31. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This event will be happening in place of the Unsung Hero Banquet that the Chilton Auburn Club holds every year. The banquet did not happen in 2020 or 2021 due to COVID-19.
The Poker Run will be used to raise money for scholarships for Chilton County students that attend Auburn University.
How it will work is each person registered will get on a boat at Higgins Ferry Park, and they will go to seven different docks/stops to draw a single card. Out of those seven cards they can use their five best cards as their hand, and then submit their hand at the end of the event. The people with the best hands will receive prizes.
“You pay $25 per hand, and you can play as many hands as you want,” Chilton County Auburn Club president Barbara Bates said.
The stops will be the docks/homes of other Chilton Auburn Club members. The members that will host each stop will be David and Kimiera Locke, Brad and Ashley Owen, Joe and Sherry Campbell, Keith and Angeline Jackson, David and Melinda McCullough, Scott and Jana Zuelzke and Bill Hatley.
