Alabama is giving back-to-school shoppers a Sales Tax Holiday on select items July 16-18.
However, Chilton County residents will still be required to pay the local county sales tax of 3% as the Chilton County Commission has chosen not to participate this year.
City sales tax for Clanton and Thorsby will be waived as the council in each municipality approved participating.
Jemison and Maplesville have chosen not to participate this year.
A list of qualifying items is available at revenue.alabama.gov/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/STHolidayQuickRefSheet21.pdf
