The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) bid a project on a state route in Chilton County on June 25th. The bid was made during a bid opening, and is expected to improve mobility and safety in the county, according to a press release from ALDOT.
The final amount paid on the bid was $1.19 million, and the project will be for a 1.7-mile strip on Highway 22 from the junction of Meadowview Circle to west of the intersection of US-31 in Clanton.
Wiregrass Construction Company will be hired for the project, and the plan is for them to resurface and put new traffic stripping on the road.
The bid still needs final approval before ALDOT can get started. Once approved, ALDOT estimates that the project will take approximately two months to complete.
