Although many of Chilton County’s annual events are getting back on schedule this year after missing a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of En Fuego have announced that the music festival will not be returning.

The board of director for the event released a statement on the event’s website stating, “The decision was not an easy one to make. There had been high hopes for a huge celebration of the 25th Anniversary this year but, due to the pandemic, economy, and many other factors, it was the determination of the Board that there will be no event in 2021 or beyond.”

The event was held in a field in Verbena and had featured some well-known Christian bands with a variety of music styles, such as For King and Country and Skillet.

“We are confident that the vision has been fulfilled and that we were faithful to use En Fuego as a platform to share the gospel of Jesus Christ,” organizers stated in the release. “Although we are saddened that En Fuego has ended, we know the ministry will continue through every person who had their life changed at an En Fuego event.”

The board also took time to thank the financial sponsors and volunteers who had made the free event possible year after year.

“Lastly, we thank everyone who has attended En Fuego and helped grow it into one of the largest Christian Music Festivals in the Southeast,” organizers stated in the release.  It has been amazing to see God provide physically, spiritually, and financially for this ministry. We have been privileged and blessed to serve as Board members of En Fuego Ministries. We say goodbye to something near and dear to us. En Fuego has left a lasting impression on our hearts and we hope on yours as well.”
