Cornerstone Fitness and Wellness hosted the 17th annual Peach Run on June 19 at its facility in Clanton.
Over 70 runners participated in the run, a good turnout for the event, especially after the run was canceled last year due to COVID-19.
“I think we didn’t really know what to expect,” said Cornerstone Fitness director Lesia Childress. “But I think people are tired of being closed in, we ended up with over 70 runners, so all in all … met my expectations, it went very smoothly.”
The Peach Run consisted of a 5K run and a 10K. Both runs began at the same time.
Clanton native Darren Wilson finished with the best time of all the men in the 5K, finishing the run in 22:36, and Ashton Leckrone of Montgomery finished with the best time of all the women in the 5K, finishing the run in 23:04.
In the 10K, Montgomery native Ryan Stanford finished with the best time of all the men, finishing in 38:16. Clanton native Samantha Sims had the best time of all the women, finishing the run in 43:57.
