Jay LeCroy of LeCroy Career Technical Center was honored at a Chilton County Board of Education meeting on June 10 with a resolution of recognition from the Alabama House of Representatives.
Alabama State Rep. Van Smith read the resolution, and it recognized LeCroy for his exceptional work as an instructor at LeCroy Career Technical Center, highlighting many of his achievements.
LeCroy was given the 2020 Teacher of Excellence for the state of Alabama award in its high school division by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association. He also played a large role in LeCroy Career Technical Center being one of two schools in the state to receive the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association’s Program of Excellence award in 2021.
“There’s some technology programs that I have been involved with, but this is an outstanding technology program,” Smith said.
Aside from his work at LeCroy Career Technical Center, LeCroy has also worked in research at Auburn University’s Sea Lab in Mobile. He also has taught various scientific courses such as engineering, physics and chemistry to various students, helping students apply their lessons when building drones, underwater ROVs and VEX robotics.
“Mr. LeCroy, as [he] excels in his instruction, he continues to inspire his students and many others, and he is indeed worthy of special recognition,” Smith said.
Smith ended the statement by stating that LeCroy was “highly recommended” by the House of Representatives, and was given best wishes in his future endeavors.
