Senate election set for July 13

The general election for the special election to fill the District 14 State Senate seat will be July 13.

April Weaver (Republican) and Virginia Teague Applebaum (Democrat) are on the ballot.

The District 14 seat became vacant when former senator Cam Ward was appointed by Gov. Kay Ivey to be the director of the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles in Dec. 2020.

Alabama District 14 includes portions of Bibb, Chilton and Shelby counties.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Chilton County portion of this district includes Jemison, Thorsby, Northern Chilton County and portions of Clanton.
