Chilton County Schools has announced that school will be closing at 1:30 p.m. today amidst weather concerns.

“All after school activities are cancelled,” according to the CCS announcement.

Bus riders will take their normal bus at dismissal time.

As of 10 a.m., Chilton County was under a tornado watch until 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Strong thunderstorms are expected with the possibility of 70 mph wind speeds and large hail.
