The Chilton County Board of Education is accepting applications for the vacant board position.
Angie Sanderson stepped down from the board at its last meeting, and who ever is appointed to her seat would fill the remaining years of her initial six-year term.
Applications will be accepted through May 14.
Position details and applications will be available at the Central Office, 1705 Lay Dam Road, and at chilton.12.al.us.
Applicants will be required to pay for a background check and must pass it.
Board President Pam Price said a decision needs to be made within 30 days.
The Board of Education is expected to make a decision on an appointment on May 25. This would be a special called meeting. Superintendent Jason Griffin said having another meeting in May would also give the board the opportunity to approve more new employees for next school year.
The May 25 meeting will at 5:30 p.m. in the Central Office meeting room.
