The Clanton Planning Commission voted to have three properties owned by the city of Clanton rezoned during a meeting on April 13.

The three properties need to be rezoned to be brought into zoning compliance. Two of the properties are located on Fifth Avenue, one being the old Chamber of Commerce property at 500 Fifth Avenue North, and the other used to be “the Dr. Moore house” according to Gene Martin. The other is located on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Fifth Street “right across from the Senior Connection [building]” according to Martin.

The two properties located on Fifth Avenue need to be zoned O1 Office to be in compliance while the other property needs to be zoned B1 Business.

The motion to have the three properties re-zoned was approved unanimously by the commission but must go to the Clanton City Council for approval.

Also approved at the meeting was a motion to have property owned by Teresa Varden at the Enterprise Road and Duren Road intersection rezoned from M1 Light Industrial District to B3 Neighborhood Business District.

The motion was also approved unanimously by the commission. It will also be taken to the Clanton City Council for approval on May 24th.
