From Chilton County Chamber of Commerce
The Chilton County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Ascension St. Vincent’s Chilton has been selected as its 2020 Distinguished Business of the Year. Considered the highest honor bestowed by the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce, the recipient is selected by unanimous approval of the Board of Directors in recognition of a continuous level of exceptional service to the people of Chilton County.
Presentation of the award was made during a ceremony held at the Ascension St. Vincent’s Chilton facility in Clanton. During the presentation, Billy Singleton, President of the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce stated, “Although we would normally make this presentation as part of our annual membership meeting, the circumstances of the past year have created a business and social environment that few of us could have anticipated. However, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the importance of individual and organizational leaders within our communities who not only step up to meet the challenges of adversity, but who seek opportunities within those challenges to assist in meeting the needs of others. During the past year, as the COVID-19 pandemic ravaged our community, the management and staff of Ascension St. Vincent’s Chilton earned their reputation as true heroes by providing continuous state of the art medical care and emotional support to the families affected by this terrible virus. The residents of Chilton County are blessed to have this modern medical facility and its dedicated associates serving our community. We look forward to continuing to work with Ascension Health in meeting their commitment of delivering compassionate, personalized care to all with special attention to persons living in poverty.”
Serving the residents of Chilton County and Central Alabama since 2016, Ascension St. Vincent’s Chilton has become an institutional leader within the community. The 30-bed hospital is a full-service community medical facility providing general acute care and outpatient services, including a 24-hour emergency department, diagnostic imaging, inpatient and outpatient surgical services, critical care, wellness services, lab, gastroenterology services, a sleep disorder center, nuclear medicine, mammography, orthopedics and more than 20 specialties from cardiology to general surgery and family medicine.
During the ceremony, Clanton Mayor Jeff Mims presented the award to Ascension St. Vincent’s Chilton Administrator Shanon Hamilton. In accepting the award, Hamilton thanked Mayor Jeff Mims and the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce for their recognition of Ascension St. Vincent’s Chilton for their service to the community. “We are proud of the commitment our associates have demonstrated during one of the most challenging times we have faced in healthcare,” said Hamilton. “Our associates truly are heroes, and they are the reason we were selected for this award.”
