The Alabama Republican Party has announced its candidates for the Senate District 14 special election.

Joseph Barlow, Donna Strong and April Weaver have each qualified as candidate for the election.

The primary is set for March 30.

“If a run-off election is needed, it will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. The general election will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021,” according to the GOP press release.

This district includes portions of northern Chilton County, as well as portions of Bibb and Shelby counties.

Cam Ward had previously held this Senate seat. However, he was appointed by Gov. Kay Ivey to be the director of the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles in November 2020.
