The Jemison Panthers earned their first region win in Blake Bradley’s tenure as head coach following a 36-6 victory on the road against Sipsey Valley (0-5, 0-3) on Sept. 18.

The 36-point output was the Panthers (2-2, 1-1) second win of 2020 and their the highest of the season, surpassing the 35 points they scored against Thorsby to open the season.

Several players found the end zone for Jemison en route to the productive night offensively.

Starting quarterback James Wright led the way with 156 total yards, 102 of those came on the ground along with a pair of rushing touchdowns.

Joining Wright to form a three-pronged rushing attack was Hunter Baker and Josh Gilliland.

Baker ran for 85 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, while Gilliland tallied 55 rushing yards and two scores on seven carries.

Although Wright completed less than half of his pass attempts, he did hit Ryan Harris for a successful two-conversion.

The defense has been a cornerstone for Jemison this season and is a major reason why they are 2-2 and had a realistic opportunity of being 3-1 at this point in the season.

Jemison has allowed an average of 16.5 points per game this season, a vast improvement from a season ago.

Not only did the Panthers limit Sipsey Valley’s game plan, they were also able to force them into mistakes by forcing three turnovers in the game.

Andreas Martinez, Tarun Varner and Baker each recovered a fumble on the night.

Martinez led the team with 14 tackles, while Gilliland and Harris both tallied 12.

Jemison plays their home opener against Maplesville on Sept. 24.
