Clanton approves 2021 budget

The Clanton City Council approved the 2021 fiscal year budget on Sept. 14.

Anticipated revenue in the budget is $12,599,200 with the majority coming from city sales tax. The city expects to receive $7,750,000.

Total expenses in the budget are 12,042,510.

Administrative costs account for $3,682,050, according to the budget.

The budget for the police department is lower than last year at nearly $2.5 million compared to $2.6 million in the amended 2020 budget. However, the department has only spent $2.04 million of the 2020 budget according to the year-to-date numbers.

The fire department went up slightly from $648,850 to $673,350

Funding for the street department is budgeted at $2.1 million.

The sanitation department budget is $1.6 million.

The budget also includes funding for the municipal court, shop department, parks and beautification.
