Chilton County Schools campuses and offices have been closed through July 20.
A few schools have announced the closure on their social media pages. COVID-19 concerns and “an abundance of caution” were listed as reasons.
“The decision was made to close the facilities due to the increase in Covid cases in our county,” Chilton County Schools Superintendent Jason Griffin said. “A closure for a week will keep the facilities from being used and give us an opportunity to sanitize before they are reopened.”
A post by Isabella High School shared a statement from Griffin:
“All school facilities will be closed for this week. Due to the recent outbreak, our facilities will be closed until Monday, July 20th. Employees will be paid as normal under Mr. Griffin’s quarantine order. This decision was made in consultation with the board. All athletic workouts will also be canceled for this week as well. This order includes all employees…. transportation, maintenance, administration, custodians and office staff. When we return, schools will be sanitized as necessary.
The district has also announced the cancelation of the Board of Education meetings that had been scheduled for July 21 through a post on the district website and Facebook.
