Clanton Mayor Billy Joe Driver is being treated for COVID-19 at St. Vincent’s Birmingham.
Kim Driver Hayes, Billy Joe’s daughter, said the mayor had been transferred to the Birmingham location on June 30 after being at St. Vincent’s Chilton since June 28.
No visitors are being allowed.
Driver Hayes said not being able to visit him in the hospital was the “hardest part.”
Driver Hayes said prayers are “greatly appreciated.”
Details about his recovery are unknown because of unpredictability of how the virus might progress.
Community members are encouraged to refrain from speculating on his condition out of respect for the family and to wait for information from direct family members.
