Dorothy Louise “Gran” Welch, 82 of Jemison, passed away on May 20, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Birmingham, on Nov. 21, 1936; the daughter of the late Thomas Beck and the late Helen Thompson Beck.
Gran enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved cruising, traveling, gardening, and being wherever her family was gathering. She loved life. She was a faithful servant of God. Her favorite part of the year was packing shoeboxes of Samaritan’s Purse Ministry. She sang in the Providence Baptist Church Choir and served in all areas of her church. Her legacy will live on forever through her family.
She is survived by: daughter, Pamela (Greg) Deavers of Jemison; daughter, Terri Lynn (Randy) Gothard of Jemison; son, Keith (Lisa) Welch of Clanton; daughter, Sandy (Greg) Rice of Lakeview; brother, Virgil (Paula) Beck of Hueytown; grandchildren: Allison (Kevin) Ellison, Scott (Tanya) Gothard, Josh (Holly) Deavers, Shannon (Amy) Welch, Justin (Shay) Deavers, Mitch (Niki) Rice, Casey (Macy) Welch, and Kory (Hannah) Rice; and great-grandchildren: Yura, Tyler, Anna, Hunter, Carter, Lexie, Eli, Dean, Kate, Ella, Owen, Charlie, Parker, Sawyer, and Ellie.
She is preceded in death by husband, Bud Welch; parents, Thomas and Helen Beck; sister, Martha Praytor; and sister, Faye Burcham.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 11 a.m. from Providence Baptist Church No. 1 with Rev. Allen Foster and Rev. Randy Gothard officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
Burial will follow in the Providence Baptist Church No. 1 Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
Final care and arrangements entrusted to the Ellison Memorial Funeral Home of Clanton.
