Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

This has been a tenuous week for myself, and many people living in Jacksonville, Florida, where I was born and raised.

The topsy-turvy week began after Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan announced the team would be playing two “home” games in London next season.

This was a major blow to the heart and soul of the Jacksonville people and has once again brought the narrative of the team eventually moving out of town back to the forefront.

After rattling my brain over the last couple of days trying to come up with a proper rationale behind it, I understand that it is a business, and even though I would have approached the situation differently, I have come to accept it.

This got me thinking of the situation in my current home of Chilton County and the future Alabama Farm Center.

Regardless of how you feel about the farm center and its proposed influence on this county, you can’t argue that it is just part of the business of life.

You may not like your job, but you have come to understand that it is just part of the business of life and is essential in providing the necessities for your family.

Life is not free, because the things required to live even the most basic of lives cost money.

As time passes the cost of living continues to go up, which means having to find more and more ways to create enough revenue to keep pace with the changing landscape.

If you think about the Chilton County Commission and the various town councils as “parents,” they are just trying to give their “family” (residents) the necessities, such as smoother roads to commute on.

However, in this scenario the Commission has to find the revenue to provide such necessities, which is where the farm center comes into play.

Although this grand scale of revenue creation has never been implemented in Chilton County, it is nothing to be afraid of. In fact, it is something to be proud of.

Take solace in the fact that you have a future that includes exciting new additions, because trust me, as a Jaguar fan I can tell you it is far better than the alternative of uncertainty and worry.
